It didn't matter how many times I saw it I always found it hilarious and would love to see it again.
I have been looking for it on You Tube but no luck. I found Harry Belafonte singing it with the Muppets which is really funny.

Do you remember the Banana Boat song that used to be on TV with the little mouse and the rabbit, I think that's what they were. the mouse would sing Day-O
and the rabbit would say 'too loud man' .

I don't remember that Trio biscuit commercial.
The one I am thinking about is a proper 3-4 minute thingy. I can't remember if it was a cartoon style or using models. |

The song was used in an ad for Cabana in the eighties, would that be the one? I remember the rabbit saying too loud man but not sure where it was from.

"CONFECTIONERY giant Nestle has announced it will reintroduce the Cabana bar this summer.
The bar, originally produced by Rowntree Mackintosh (purchased by Nestle in 1989) was last on UK shelves back in 1984. A combination of coconut, cherries and caramel covered in milk chocolate, the bar will be relaunched as a test run backed by a Hawaiian-themed advertising campaign, with the slogan 'Chill out at the Cabana'. The decision was made to reintroduce the bar following huge consumer pressure, and a successful 'Retro' campaign in 2006 during which Nestle produced the popular Drifter and Rolo lines with 1980s packaging. A spokesman confirmed, 'After much demand from our customer base, we are pleased to be bringing back this old favourite. Cabana is a lively brand and our promotions will reflect this sense of fun - we're confident the bar can become the taste of the summer'. The first Cabana bars will be available from mid June with an SRP of 45p for a 46g bar." Maybe the ad will come back as well! Sue |

The original calypso must be nearly 50 years old. It brought it all back to me - a bar on an oilfield at daybreak with the barman singing it, especially the
last line -daylight come and it's time to go home. We always knew then that it really was time to go home. What it was to be young!
