Hayfever |

Is anyone finding it worse this year? For the past few weeks I have had a streaming nose and eyes and today the sneezing is continous! I just went out very
briefly in the garden and my eyes feel like I want to pull them out and scratch them. Now I do get these symptoms every year but it seems worse somehow this
year.

I don't usually get hayfever Tina but this year I've had cold like symptoms and just thought i'd got a virus but my friend gave me one of her
hayfever tablets and it really eased the sneezes and itchy eyes. I couldn't believe it but she said that she had heard on the radio that lots of people are
suffering really badly this year due to a certain type of pollen
Not much consolation though is it? Claire xx |

My Doc said, when I ended up in May with nasty sinus infection from it, that it was birch pollen giving him most work this year.
(I have 2 birch trees in the garden but had been blaming flowers before that) Doesn't seem to bother my eyes so much but it goes for my sinuses and I get headaches with it. And, yes, it's definitely a lot worse than normal this year. |

I've never suffered with hay fever, but I went to the doctor because my eyes were irritating a lot, and he tells me it is hay fever causing it.

I've suffered with hayfever all my life Tina but I've definitely felt worse this year. My eldest son who is nearly 14 has also been suffering this
last couple of weeks and he's not had it before. I've heard of lots of people in the same situation this year too. I've learned to live with it
by now or at least I thought I had but this years its being such a nuisance and making life miserable for loads of people.

A doctor on the radio said it is the worse year ever for hayfever. Don't they say that every year?
Every one is sneezing and sniffing with it. |

Mine is definately worse than it has been for a number of years....... to the point where I thought I'd grown out of it! But no - constant running nose and
eyes. Grhhhhhhhhh!

A lot of people who don't usually suffer from Hayfever have got it this year due to a new pollen that has arrived in this country this Summer.
I unfortunately have suffered with Hayfever since I was 23. This year it has lasted longer than previous years, but thankfully the pollen I am allergic to is on the wane, so my eyes and nose are improving. |

I've had it since I was 3. At 20 the docs gave up telling me (or my mam) that I would grow out of it!!
I've not been too bad this year, but I have been on my strong pills since the beginning of May and use a nasal spray twice a day. My eyes have been itchy over the last few days, but eyes drops have taken care of that. Think I'm so used to it now I know what to do to control it as best I can. If I cavn avoid sitting outside once the syptoms start I do and also I wash my hair before bed if I've been out during the day and try not to put anything I've worn outside on my bed, so its a haven from the pollen!! Its so irritating. I was laden during my o levels (many moons ago!) and can remeber having a box of tissues and a bin by me during the exam. By the time I'd finished each exam the box was empty and the bin was full. Delightful! Hope you all feel a little better soon. Love Jill x |

I get mine early in the year when the trees start and from pine later in the year. Also not keen on the reap. So at the moment I am ok and am thankful for that
as my youngest son has had a really bad lot this year and yes I would say it seems worse this year. You have my sympathy Tina and anyone else suffering. Ali x

I'm not a sufferer, but I definitely have it this year. You are right Tina it is worse this year - I was told it is tree pollen. I know there has been a
lot of it about because my car has been covered in it lately.

Yes Tina, I have found it really bad this year. I have to keep apologising for sniffing and my throat gets so dry. Some days my eyes are so bad that I just
want to keep them closed. Really annoying when I have cards that need to be made. This morning wasn't to bad and this afternoon is fine. I only found out
that it was Hay Fever about 3 years ago but have probably had it for about 10.

A few years ago now, but I read about a campaign to try to get councils to plant more female plants. It's male plants that produce the pollen so keeping them to a minimum would help people. Alison |

My husband has hayfever and he has a teaspoon of LOCAL honey every morning and he says it helps but it must be local honey.

Yes Tina, it's definitely worse. I seem to have grown out of it but my son James has taken over from me, poor devil. He's been much worse this year
& has had to see the Dr for different meds. He has got stronger anti-histamines & a nasal spray. He was thoroughly miserable with it throughout his
GCSEs but it's not COOL for a boy to have a box of tissues on his desk so his trouser pockets were stuffed full instead. Heaven help him if he forgot to
empty his pockets before putting his clothes to the wash, especially as his uniform is black! Snow in July!

I am actually feeling worn out with the constant sneezing, blowing nose and generally feeling bunged up. My eyes are driving me insane too ... most people
would say that I don't have that far to go

l've heard that a little vaseline in the nose helps trap the pollen. My eyes have been itchy today and I've felt really chesty, never thought of
hayfever even though my daughter has it and has been snuffly today...Dot
