Hi Liza, nice idea but it would take up too much space on the board to have different sections, plus moderating to make sure people were in the right place and
had resized photos would be a nightmare. I think we will see what the poll says and go from there, nothing will happen over night and we will take all your
comments on board.

I haven't voted in the poll as I have to agree with Wendy. I'd like a 'here's one I made earlier' thread, where we can all showcase what
we've done that day, whether it be for specific challenges or just something we'd like to share.
Any chance we could have a new poll with this third option please Tina? Jane xxx |

Maybe it's because it's late but I'm not sure I 'get' this as I can't see the difference between a post showing a card made for a
friend/relative etc. and a card made for a challenge. All I can say is I love looking at everyone's cards wherever and whenever they are posted

Jane's is a good option - everyone who wants to post something they've made each day puts it into one thread, no matter whether it is a challenge or
not. That way we can browse to our heart's content and see everything that people are making (which is where a lot of my inspiration comes from). I'm
sure I miss loads because they disappear from the first page or even second pages before I get on here.

I honestly can't see what all the fuss is about. Ok there may be a lot of challenge threads but most can be identified before you open them and if you
don't want to look at them - well just skip past onto the next thread. I think that by putting a separate thread just for challenges seems to be
discriminatory (maybe too strong a word but I can't think of another atm). If the majority do vote for a separate thread then I think going with a
'show and tell' for everyone as suggested before would be the fairest. I'm not a blogger but I do like making individual comments to the folks who
show their cards whether on their blogs or on our forum. I think they all do us a great service, new ideas, inspiration etc. If it was on one thread I think it
would be impersonal - as I must say i think the hug thread is (sorry just my opinion).

I can see the sense of having all the cards together in one area but why just the challenge cards? Sorry, I
don't understand - Tina???

I first saw this last night when I came on the forum for a different reason and because I was tired decided to leave it until today to respond so that I could
be sure that my response was as balanced as possible. As a result I'm not going to say some of what I think I would have but I too am at a loss to
understand the fuss about challenge cards being any different to others being shown and very much feel that if a single thread (which I would prefer not to
see) is decided upon that it should be for ALL cards that day and not just challenge cards. I understand the way both Wendy and Cynthia are feeling about this
because I feel it too and it saddens me.
Also, it seems that some people have been missing the discussion threads that we used to have more of but this puzzles me - why not just start one? I've been left with the impression that for some people it's either/or and that there isn't room for both discussion and challenge threads so therefore the challenge threads have hijacked the forum and pushed the discussions off - as far as I'm concerned nothing could be further from the truth and would think that it's down to each of us to start threads we want to see. I sincerely hope that I haven't offended or upset anyone with this response because to do so is most certainly not my intention. Ann |

i too think that if the challenge cards are moved then all card should go in the same place not just the challenges,it does kind of look like they are being
singled out.i love looking at not just the challenge cards but all of the cards that are shown its one of the reasons i love this forum as most others have a
seperate bit for cards and i think they should all be on the main board. just my opinion as i dont show mine very often just love looking - libby

I think a Cards and Challenges thread would be great, after all it is a Card-making Forum, and that is mainly why we are all here. I love to look and comment on everyones cards and challenges as it really does inspire people like myself who struggle a bit with their cardmaking. Cynthia and Wendy your cards and challenges are always so beautiful, so please do not be sad about this. Hugs Rita xxx |

Please don't all jump on me, I am doing what I have been asked to do by many members and after a discussion with Joanna and at the moment it is just a
poll.
With challenge cards these are often a daily thing for many members (which isn't a problem), people do like to look at these and get inspiration. However what has been pointed out to us on a number of occasions is that these do advertise in a way, other company's products and forums and this is Joanna's forum. We have allowed this and will continue to do so as long as other companies are not pushed too much on here which is only fair. Now these challenge threads were fine on the general board but then almost every post has become a challenge thread and a lot of members were not happy about it, they felt that other aspects of the general board, asking for help, just chatting etc. were being knocked off. Now I am not saying what is right or wrong so please do not get annoyed, I am simply saying what Joanna and I have received emails about. This is a crafting forum so we will get cards shown, if someone wants to show a card they made for Uncle Fred or one for their daughters prom, then that's fine, these people do not put them on daily 24/7. These are fine, as have the challenge cards been. Now we are simply polling people about if they want the daily challenge cards in one place as suggested by a lot of members. This doesn't include cards that are just odd ones here and there, just the challenges which do in some way promote other businesses. We don't want to lose the challenge cards; they help a lot of people with ideas and are lovely to see. We are hoping that by having one daily thread (if the voting goes that way) that everyone will know where to look and be able to see and comment on each card. As I say, at the moment it is just a poll and we shall see what the majority of the forum wants. |

I like to look at all the cards and challenges, and try to leave a comment. I don't leave comments on blogs because I am put off by all the badges and
flashing bits.
I don't think this is a problem on this forum, but I have seen on other forums where people just come on to post their challenges cards and don't take an active part in the forum. So they will never take the time to wish someone Happy Birthday - which I think is courteous and very important. All they are interested in is self-promotion. I must re-iterate I don't find this a problem on the JS forum. However the cards are displayed will make no difference to me I shall still look. I do hope I haven't offended anyone, I have learnt such a lot from the challenge posters with their adventurous use of colour and composition, and from the members who make a card with love for Mum, Dad, grandchildren etc. Challengers and members may come to cardmaking from different perspectives, but all the cards have merit to me. I feel the same as Sheila, I always look at all the cards posted whether they be challenges or personal ones of some sort, and always leave a comment in each
thread. Since joining the forum I have had a new lease of life regarding my cardmaking, I had got into a bit of a rut and was finding it hard to come up with
new and different ideas; seeing all of the different cards posted has been a great inspiration. I have even been bold enough to post some of my cards, and have
been overwhelmed by the amount of people who have veiwed my cards and been kind enough to leave a comment. I will continue to look at them and leave a comment
where-ever they are posted.

WelshPaula wrote: I agree with Paula. I don't have a problem with lots of threads on similar things. One thread makes it harder to comment on individual cards. I often
don't post because not all the cards are my cup of tea, but I do like to leave a comment on a card I really like. I might miss some threads but that
doesn't bother me. I always think if it ain't broke don't fix it. I never understood why people thought they needed one hug thread. I always go to
page 2 and sometimes page 3 to see if there are any posts I've missed and I don't think reducing the number of threads will help to keep it all on the
first page. If people want discussion threads then they can as has been said - start them. I've added to this thread beacause I often return to a thread
I'm interested in to read posts made after my own or those on pages I haven't got to yet.

I like looking at all the cards, and getting some inspiration from them. I have also found the kind comments that people leave, have been a great
encouragement, as I'm not the most confident cardmaker by any means. I only make maybe two or three cards in a week, sometimes not that, if I'm not
well, so it's nice to get the opinions of some of the more expert crafters on here. I feel this will be lost if we just have one thread. Surely
there's room for both cards and discussions on the forum. There seems to be both at the moment. Hope this doesn't upset anyone.

Everyone has their own opinions on this and everyone thinks their opinion is the right one which is human nature. However we have to go with what the majority
want not individual people, so please vote on the poll and we can see clearly what is wanted. Nothing is changing overnight and if you look at my last post you
will see why we feel challenges and individual cards are different.
Jan I don't really want to bring up the hug thread on here as enough has been said for now. What I will say is that we have had some negative posts about it but people that do post these are not afraid of posting what they feel. We also had many people wanting it and still do but they tend to be quieter, you just have to take our word for it, if not mine then Joanna's, that we get these by email and messages. We are trying to see if we can do something different and have been in debate about this for a few weeks, but at the moment we had to go again with what the majority wanted. THis was why people were polled, we didn't just decide to do this on a whim. We have had people leave because we didn't have a single thread and we have had people threaten to leave because we do. It is very, very hard to keep people happy, I know this upsets Joanna a lot as all she wants is a happy chatty forum. The plain simple fact is we cannot please everyone, although we try so very, very hard to do so. |

I just love this forum and I'm happy to go along with whatever the majority decide, it really doesn't bother me at all, I just want the forum to stay
the happy, friendly place it has always been, I enjoy seeing everyones cards and will be able to continue to look where ever they are posted, I think it's
great people share their cards etc and have learnt so much, so whatever is decided I will happily go along with, this is a fantastic forum, Kali x

Did you ever say something and then wish you had kept stum??!! I was in a very delicate state yesterday because of a malign from elsewhere and said what I did
when normally I wouldn't. I have read your post Tina, with reasons and perhaps understand more why this is being polled. You are right - you can't
please everyone all the time and I am sorry if you feel people are having a go, when you all do a sterling job.
When I do the challenges and post to my blog I try to have a good mix of products and companies and have tried to link to the JS Forum even if only for the supply of Flora Doodles, as often as I can. I have a tag on my side bar for Joanna Sheen with 76 references in it, as I am ever concious of this. All my Artylicious/Elusive Images and 80% of my Tilda stamps came from the JS shop and I pointed people here for those too, not only on my blog but on other Forums. I have had people contact me on the blog about various things that I use and I have passed the shop link onto them as well sometimes only for a good and rliable supply of Collal photo glue. I am just trying to say that I try to be fair about what I do - as for the challenge poll, what will be will be and I will continue to post and enjoy the friendship and support I receive from a good number of people on here. I will continue to look at other card posts too, whether they use JS products or not - as many of them don't. Having said all that I won't be posting today as Yuku must have Gremlins and I can only reply - it won't let me start a new topic lol!! |
