It's my friends birthday later this week, I will buy her a pressie, but as she does so much for me, and I love baking I was thinking of making her a carrot
cake. She is a single parent, so theres not a lot of money for luxeries, and I know that both her and her daughter love carrot cake.
The question is do you think this is a good idea? Sheran x

Absolutely great idea. If you give her smellies or other luxuries she would probably think of all the necessities she could have bought instead. An unusual
cake will be a winner I should think. Its not just a cake, a homemade cake takes time and trouble and you are thinking of the recipient throughout. She will
appreciate your giving part of yourself. Sandra

Sheran a- that would be most appreciated by them - the fact that you took so much time and effort to make a carrot cake knowing its her favourite. I know if it
was me I would be over the moon that a friend cared as much.

mags (carrot cake must be the cake of the week - am making one for OH's birthday later this week - though I am cheating and using a mix - have found an absolutely delicious one, better than my homemade!) |

I think it's a lovely idea. When you go through life not having money for luxuries, just something like this that someone has spent their time to make
especially for them would be certainly appreciated - more so than if you went and bought her some flowers etc. Made a mocca cake for hubby yesterday as
it's his birthday today and I know he'll certainly appreciate it.

Its a brilliant idea. Having spent most of my life on a tight budget I know that whether you have loads of money or hardly any, it feels wonderful when someone
has spent time making something specially for you. Anyone can buy an item but it takes a special person to make you something, its why hand made cards are so
special
