can someone help i have posted this here as richard is away but my cd drive wont open my question is do i have to get a new one fitted or can i get
another cd drive with out having it fitted and over ride the other one if so how do i do it

Have you tried ressetting your pc?
Most CD ROM/DVD Drives have a small hole in the front. this is an emergency release. TURN OFF THE SYSTEM AND REMOVE IT FROM THE MAINS and straighten out a paperclip and push it into the hole. the drawer should pop out. The drives are cheep now if they need replacement. |

you don't need to switch your pc off - just straighten a paperclip and push into the little hole as this is just a safety catch/release mechanism -
I've done this loads of times - CD will generally work again - they just get a little stuck sometimes !!!

many thanks it worked and i got a long paint brush sprayed it lighty with WD 40 and brushed the back and its opening and shutting fine now many thanks
