I have nearly been flattened, again, by a cyclist on the pavement and have twisted my ankle trying to get out of the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My children and I walk to school everyday and we a sick and tired of having to leap out of the way of reckless cyclist's on the pavement.
I have no problem with the children cycling on the pavement, the vast majority of the kids on bikes behaviour responsible and are courteous and attentive to
the pedestrians.
The problem cyclists are the adults, they seem to think it's a race track. I'm sorry but the pavement is for pedestrians not cyclists, they seem to use
the pavement to avoid traffic queues whizzing up onto the pavement, shouting at pedestrians to move !!! I know some car users are inconsiderate to cyclists
that does not mean they have a right to inflict the same bad behaviour on pedestrians.
I have lost count of the times that I have had to pull my kids out of harms way of a cyclist, this has been a problem for a long time now and seems to be
getting worst and worst. There is a cycle lane on the route but it is very rare to see it being used, obviously the traffic is heavy at school run times and it
must be frustrating, for car users and cyclists, but it is absolutely no excuse for the dangerous way the cyclist uses the pavement as short cuts and show
little consideration to the safety of the pedestrians who are where they are suppose to be, on the pavement. 
It is a miracle that no-one has been hurt yet, pedestrian or cyclist.
I'm absolutely livid, the incident today was the last straw. I have decided that this problem is not going to improve and that I am going to have to find
out who to complain to (Police, local council ???) because something needs to be done before someone ends up seriously hurt.

Totally agree with you Gail. Some cyclists think it is their right to cycle on the pavements these days as well as cars using pavements as parking
lots. I believe this is also against the law but most drivers around here do not use their garages or parking bays but the pavements instead. The poor
pedestrians have to use the road and I think it is particularly bad for mothers with pushchairs.

get yer camera out gail, take pics or film it. show it to police,
find out if it's classed as a hit n run if they dont stop if they do hit anyone, tilly was once injured by a thoughtless cyclist when i was walking her, as the guy approached he didn't slow down or anything, i couldn't pull her out of the way in time n she ended up with a big circular whelt (sp) round her head! he didn't stop. it's so infuriating, hope you get some help. chell x |

I think its illegal to cycle on pavements. Cyclists can be issued with a fixed penalty fine if they are caught. But I suspect enforcing it is a bit like
enforcing the fines for litter, cigarette ends, dog dirt etc etc
 I
would report it to the police though, surely dangerous cyclists are in the same boat as dangerous drivers and I think there was a case recently where a girl
was killed after she was run down by a cyclist.

Go to the police and make a complaint. Take photos the next time if poss. Hope your ankle gets better soon xx
Cycling on footways (a pavement at the side of a carriageway) is prohibited by Section 72 of the Highway Act 1835, amended by Section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1888. This is punishable by a fixed penalty notice of £30 under Section 51 and Schedule 3 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. |

You're right TJ. There was an item on the news a couple of weeks ago about a cyclist (an adult) who mowed down a young girl and killed her, whilst
shouting at her to get out of the way as he wasn't stopping!! And this was on a pavement!! I can't remember what conviction he got, but you can bet
it wasn't enough.

As a pedestrian cyclists on the pavement really annoy me and I have been known to ask them politely to have more thought when cycling past someone.
As a cyclist and have been known to tell a motorist exactly what I think of them. Hand gestures have been used on two occasions. Cyclists should be as responsible for their actions as any car driver. Report it. It is a tricky one being a cyclist. You don't belong anywhere. I don't want to cycle on the pavement but it is too dangerous being on the road. If there is a pedestrian I get off and push which is how I would like to be treated. What annoys me most is when they whizz by from behind without you realising they are there. One day I know that myself or the dog are going to step into their path and get hurt. And yes, adults are the worst. Many many drivers have very little respect for those on bikes. We have 1 cycle path here and it is used by motorists to park their cars

Just this last Sunday, I was taking SIL shopping, I pulled up at some traffic lights where I had to turn left, and it was really scary. The Manchester to
Blackpool cycle race came past. There were hundreds of them, all coming fast. Not one at a time but in large groups. The pavement was full of them, they were
squeezing along the left side of the car, all jostling for position, then they were cutting across the front and back of the car and riding up the wrong side
of the road. Because the lights were on red there were a couple of dozen waiting in groups for the lights to change, so we motorists at the front were
completely hemmed in., and heaven help any pedestrians there may have been. Despite indicating well before the lights changed, I turned left with trepidation,
fully expecting one of them to crash into me so erratic was their riding.
What really aggravated me though, was that there was not a Police Officer or even a Marshall in sight. I have been told that the Police were up on the main road, but surely, there should have been Marshalls. It was not just a short term thing either, returning home an hour later, they were still going through by the dozen. As a motorist, I always give cyclists a wide berth, even the ones riding two abreast in dark clothing with no lights |

Some of them have no consideration! The other day as a pedestrian i was standing at a cross roads waiting for the green man to come on so i could cross, he
came on so i crossed the empty lane got to the lane of stationary cars only to have a cyclist cycle straight through the red light within inches of me crossing

Thanks ladies, you know I had never thought about taking a piccie - I do carry my mobile but am not a big user so it never twigged duh The problem cyclist are
regulars so if I could get a piccie that would be useful for the Police.

This is so annoying! it has happened to me on a couple of occasions. Whilst walking my dog one night, in the dark, a man came riding a bike along the pavement,
when he got near me he said in a very posh voice PEEP PEEP
 , I turned
around and said " pardon me?" I SAID PEEP PEEP!! GET OUT OF MY WAY!! errr.. this is a pavement, you should be on the road. I HAVENT GOT ANY BLOODY
LIGHTS. well I suggest you bloody well GET SOME!!!. He then turned away in a huff and rode off. - on the road. S. xx
