Morning Jane,
to write vertical text you have to insert a textbox (?) from the insert menu, write you text, mark the text you want to change and go to the Format menu and mark the text orientation choice. I hope this makes sense to you, it was harder than I thought to explain since I have word in Swedish. If you cant make right or wrong out of it hopefully someone else will be able to help you or you can use the help-function in word. Have a nice day! Karin xx |

In Open Office : type eg Happy Anniversary, then highlight it ... go into Format, Character ... turn by degrees. I couldn't find anything else... sorry.

What I want to do is have the letters one above each other reading down not a word on its side if this makes any sense, I could put each letter on a seperate line but when using large letters the gaps are too big.Thanks anyway jane Bye Jane |

Hi - I don't have Open Office, but was wondering whether, like Microsoft Word, it has "WordArt" feature? If so, you can create vertical words
using this.

Word art does have vertical because I use it to do the spines of my ring binders.

There is something similar to WordArt in Open Office it's called Fontwork. I use WordArt in MS Publisher and MS Word and they do vertical text.

Sorry Jan you are right I just thought that it was called wordart in open office but its called fontwork as Barbara says and I dont think fontwork has
vertical.
Thanks Jane I dont have word now as I bought a new computer and it doesn't have it on I just thought all computers had it so didn't check and when i asked for a price for it i nearly died. |
