ciss - reassurance needed |

Ciss for my Epson has just been delivered. The installation instructions look terrifying. Is it as bad as it seems. Did anyone have any problems?

I have had mine for some time - haven't plucked up courage yet to install it. Needless to say I haven't been able to print anything either. I
haven't even looked at the Egyptian cd yet, so I really must get going, if it is as easy as you say. Will make the effort today.

Can I ask for some advice please? A few of my ciss tubes seem to be filling up with air, how do I remove the air to get the ink back flowing again?

Gill,
I dont want to put you off but I did have problems installing my CISS on the Epson DX4450. I followed the pinstructions and actually fitted it ok but each time I switched the printer off, it sort of rejected it. I had to spend between 1/2 -1 hr pretending to put new carts in to get it to recognise the cartridges as propper cartridges. I am glad that I persevered as I hardly have any problems now (I do not switch it off though) I occasionally get a problem where it says that it has run out of ink. I just go through the cart change process - sometimes it takes 4-5 gos to get it to work, but then it is oK for ages. As I say, I do not what to put you off as overall I am happy with it but there was a point when I was ready to rip it out. Sarah xxx |

I too have a CISS system on my epson DX 7450, and installation was fine despite the 'pigeon english' installation instructions. 'puter keeps
telling me that I'm out of ink, but I can over-ride that ok...
Its great to be able to print out stuff without worry , it is very economical. Terrie x |

I have an Epsom D6000 and I have had my CISS for over a year. Instalation was quite simple I just had one small query and the company that I bought it from
had an excellent after sales service. I sent them an e mail and the owned imediately phoned me and talked me through it. You will get hours of enjoyment
printing backing sheets from your cd's without having to worry about the cost of the ink

Gill,
That is the problem I was having. Mine came with a second set of chips as it depended on the date that the printer was manufactured to which chips you use. There is a software program that you can use that will reset the chip ( i think) but I cannot get it to work with vista. Shewray sent me the link yesterday so I will forward it to you to take a look at. Once I got this sorted I had a foreign object problem. It was just that the ink tubes were a tiny bit too loose in the routing of it, so when the print head when to the left the tubes bunched up and obstructed it. Hope you get it sorted. Sarah xxx |

Many thanks for that. I do hope I can get it sorted out - so much looking forward to really using my cds

Twinplums - again many thanks but my printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R265 and it is not supported by the software link. The frustration of this makes you
wonder whether it is worth it!

I have an Epsom Stylus CX6400 and bought a CISS system for it sometime ago. It was easy to install. Was a little tiresome as everytime I wanted to print I
would always have to answer a pop up question about printing with cartridges that weren't "Epsom" cartridges.
I have a WARNING though - A couple of weeks ago, I left my printer switched on for about 24 hours - had switched off PC and wasn't printing anything off - however, when I realised that I'd left it switched on I discovered to my horror that the CISS system had competely drained/emptied itself into my printer !!! The CISS system was about half full of ink too !! Hence, I'm now back to using individual Epsom cartridges. Hubby bought me some other cheaper compatible cartridges - so when my Epsom one's run out I'll try these (they were only £2.99 each !!!!). Kind regards Christine |
