They think she may have Pancreatitis. She was certainly in a lot of pain - and it has taken a double dose of morphine to knock her out. She is on a saline drip and is now at least looking a better colour.
(She was feeling well enough to tell me where she had hidden Dad's star card for his birthday tomorow!!)
So please some sheenie vibes for mum. I don't think she is up for hugs though........it hurts too much.
Dawn
(she said - I felt so ill I've not even been on the forum!!!)
Sunday - phoned this morning and she had a restful night (thank God for morphine!!) will go back at visiting this afternoon and take the print out of all your kind messages. 6pm. She looks a lot better - is still on oxygen but is allowed clear fluids. Hopefully having an ultrasound tomorrow if not Tuesday to track down the gallstone that has likely caused the problem!!
Monday 10pm Mum had the scan oday - and they couldn't locate a gallstone... so she is not happy. She is booked in for an MRI on Wednesday now. Still only on clear fluids - but had lime jelly for tea!!! Still on oxygen and a drip - apparently her potassium levels her low.... she still looks jaudiced too. The main thing today was she was worried about Dad..... I've doen "meals on wheels" for him and taught him how to drive the washing machine - he even ventured out to Sainsbury's on his own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (She really must have scared him!). I took her all your kind messages today, which I think has helped. They don;t do technology in this hospital - you can't even rent a phone - she has been told to use her mobile!!!!
Tuesday = don't laugh..... they have just realised mum has a bionic hip so can't have an MRI so hopefully will be having a CT scan instead tomorrow. Is off the drip.... still on oxygen.... booked for an endoscopy (?) for Thursday regardless of results of CT scan tomorrow.... hey ho!! She is feeling a bit better - enough to feel fed up!!
Thursday - mum should have had her CT scan this morning and is due to have her endoscopy sometime later today. She was allowed up to have a shower and wash her hair yesterday - so that helped. She says thank you for all you kind thoughts. 10pm Mum had the CT scan and endoscopy - and it looks as if she and her gallbladder will have to lose company (surprise surprise!!) she was almost back to her normal self tonight... was even allowed some dinner.. is on a 6 bed ward now..... very warm and no tv!! Doesn't know if she will be allowed home before they operate.. it's her birthday on the 29th so she really would like not to be in hospital for that.
Sat - Mum is just waiting on her blood test results to confirm her bilirubin levels are back to normal.. then they will let her out!! Consultant wants to see her in out patients after our holiday to discuss the surgery to remove her gall bladder (fingers crossed no more gallstones in the meantime!)
