Janet - you got It!!! My son's wedding Cake! His fiancee is French and this is a French tradition. 'Cake' will be decorated with red currants,
orange rind and green sedge leaves!
I said that here the tradition is to keep the top tier for the christening of first child - don't think the top tier (goat's cheese) will keep nine days let alone nine months!!! Tess x |

Sounds wonderful!! Don't forget to post a photo of it! I agree that the to layer just might not be a good christening cake LOL. Janet

Tess This bought back some wonderful memories of My sons Wedding to a French girl 10yrs ago!
There was some discussion as to what wedding cake to have! Marie my DIL had 2 choices one similar to your sons cheese one or another french tradional type a " mountain" made of protiferolles! My son wanted the tradtional English fruit cake type! In the end there was a compromise ! Marie chose the profiterolles and my son decided to have the English one! Both side by side of course! The logistics of getting the English 4 tier cake out to the family chateau on the French Swiss border was a nightmare and involved a 16hr car journey with the cake in the back! We managed it tho and was worth all the hassle . Both families were delighted and seeing the happy couple cut the cakes on the balcony in the moonlight ( yes it was mid summer and VERY hot! lol )is something I will never forget! Your sons cake sounds great and I am sure will go down well Have a wonderful wedding Margaret xx |
