my gran taught me to add a teaspoon of sugar to dishes with tomatoes, still do but not as much of it nowadays, not with a diabetic hubby. also never add salt
to water when cooking new potatoes, and add pepper to a dish after its cooked as it can make meat tough. she was a funny old thing!

Use a damp cloth to go around the edges of carpets before hoovering -gathers all the fluff up .
Put vinegar in final rinse water whilst washing hair When sewing up knitting pin it together with those plastic pins you put in hair rollers if you set your hair and New TIP use those spikey balls if you use a tumbler dryer (I get mine in a pound shop) and no need to put conditioner in |

I use the news paper on the windows sometimes, but I have a piece of scrim cloth now that I use, I remember many years ago my mothers neighbour used to use
sugar water on her baby`s hair to make one big curl on the top of his head, it looked so silly...Ann d xxx

Not an old tip but one I wish I'd known earlier ... I bought an E cloth from Lakeland after huffing and puffing for ages about whether it woud work and I have to say it's fabulous. You spray water on to any glass surface (window, mirror etc) and wipe it away with the little blue E cloth ... no cleaning products just clear water. It is FAN TASTIC ... I've got three sets of patio doors and tried everything to clean them (you can imagine what they are like with a pooch in the house) ... no streaks ... no smears ... and best of all no excessive elbow grease required. I've also managed to get a good finish on the stainless steel bit of my oven front which is usually a pain. You can pop it in the washer too ... should last for a good long while. |

When you wash all your bedding, put each set (inc sheets) into one of the pillow cases - brilliant.
I'd also have said the one about the oxo cube - one of the best tips ever. Donna X |
