Night Visitor PHOTO at Last! |

We have a stray dog that visits us at least once a day, and, two nights ago, didn't finish his cat food ( I have 3, and he loves their food better than the
dogs!) My Daughter, Val (Kimberley), went to put something in our wheelie bin, came rushing back into the living room, holding herself, breathing fast, and
trying to talk. I immediately thought she was having an Asthma attack, and reached for her inhaler. She shook her head and lifted me into my wheelchair and
pushed me to the front door - when she opened it, I was shocked to see the tin dog bowl tipped up, and, snuffling inside, finishing off the last of the cat
food, was the fattest Hedgehog I had ever seen! Obviously pregnant, it just looked at us, and carried on eating the food, then, proceeded to drink the water
we put out for the old dog, then waddled back, half way up our path, and back into the tangled patch of my front garden! We were speechless! Our Night
visitor has been back to its bowl every night since - I will try and catch it in a better light to take a photo for all you Sheenies, but I was filled with
pride, and fear, as, at the bottom of my 30 foot path is an extremely busy main road! I suppose I am too soft, but, it filled me with pride to know that we
still have these beautiful animals, even in a busy estate! I LOVE wildlife -except when its the 2 legged variety - Husband, and 3 kids, and Grandson,
exceptions Ha Ha. Does anyone else have Welcome Visitor's'?

Thank you Sandra,
I hope that she doesn't get too tame - I would be devastated if I caught her with my wheelchair, or her babies!!! I hope that the cat food is OK for her - I read somewhere that its not good to give them it, but, she helped herself - so I don't know now? egards Linda Xx |

How lovely to be able to see wildlife like that from your window! Hope you get to see the babies Linda. Joanna, do you ever take any pictures of all your
wildlife? Would love to see some. The only wildlife we get where I live are the drunks staggering home in the early hours!!!

Cat food is what we fed the hogs on at the wildlife hospital, but it shouldn't have gravy. Please don't ever give them milk, it upsets their stomachs.
Their other thing is live mealworms but I don't suppose you have any of those!!
We only get foxes round here. You are very lucky Joanna! Sue |

You are lucky Linda I used to have a hedgehog come into the garden to feed mainly on the slugs I think but it hasn't been around lately. Why I know that
is I am inundated with slugs and my JR hasn't been sniffing around the garden which he does when the hedgie has visited. I hope he/she is ok wherever it
has gone.

We have several hedgehogs that visit us almost nightly ... so hubby puts out the cat food that our cat has turned its nose up at. One night one of them came up
to the back door and hubby was certain it was tapping on the glass to ask why he was late with its meal! Originally we had one hedgehog visit but now we have
at least three ... they probably think our little garden is hedgehog heaven.

My mum had a hedgehog that she left food out for every night. If she was late it would kick the empty dish round the patio until she came out!

I used to get hedgehogs but haven't seen one for a couple of years and my frogs have disappeared this year as well!
However, one recent visitor to my dad's garden (he lives just round the corner) was a BIG surprise - a peacock! I thought he was muddled when he rang to tell me (he has Altzheimers) and that he meant a pheasant but no it was confirmed by his next door neighbour who took some pics and it made it into the local newspaper as well. Nobody seems to know where it has come from, there's no stately houses around here, so it will remain a big mystery! J |

Why don't we ever get good stuff like that in our garden. I would love a peacock. Nor sure the neighbours would be too happy. At the moment we have pigeon
who is definitely a sandwich short of a picnic, and the world's sparrow mountain!

I have a hedgehog couple and their baby that scuttle about in the garden at nightfall. They are now brave enough to come up to the back door, despite the cat
using the catflap. I have tried taking picture but am never quick enough to catch them together.
Had a few pheasants the used to wander into the back garden when I lived in Willingham but these hedgehogs are the cutest little family to make their home in my garden.....beats slugs anytime! EuniceX |

Hi Sue,
I was as much surprised as you to learn that Hamsters enjoyed them, but, the Syrians love them, full of Protein, I read. I will definately let everyone know when she gets suddenly thinner. Regards Linda XX |
