Maybe I just don't understand what she's trying to do.

Am I missing the point or something? |

I was watching the Oriental programme at 1pm yesterday. I can't stand this woman and I think her cards are terrible. She did one that looked like it had
got wet and smudged, and then stapled a ribbon to it. She also sticks bits of wood and raffia on her cards. Just my personal opinion, but that doesn't take
a lot of creativity.
Maybe I just don't understand what she's trying to do. Sue |

didn't see the prog Sue - which company/person is it?
Maybe she uses reverse psychology - if she does bad cards it makes you feel better about your cards?? smiles J

I don't know what company she comes from as there is nothing on the TV listings, but I think her name is Christine. She is American. Probably explains a
lot! She was on with Nigel.
Funny you should mention the reverse psychology tho, I did say to my flatmante `next time I loose confidence in my crafting ability, remind me about this woman!!` Heather said it reminded her of the Emperors New Clothes.!

I liked some of her ideas but as with everything else we all have our own tastes. I think some of the cards that others love are often over decorated, and one
POTD that was being described as bright and zingy - I thought was garish and in my opinion looked cheap and nasty.
Each to his own as they say. Jan |

I always worry when anyone says `retro`, that usually means 1970's and that makes me feel old!!!.
The American ladies cards are just a bit strange. I would never dream of stapling ribbons on. But as you say, each to his own. Maybe it's also because I prefer authentic looking Oriental. Sue |

Not my cup of tea oriental or otherwise. Not a must see progrmme. I like to learn if I spend time watching and the only thing I have learned from this
programme that staples look awful. Dangerous too.Love Sandra

it was and always is very interesting looking round the American trade show - often US styles in card making are very different to ours and yes staples are a
big big thing over there at the mo ... often they use rubber stamps a bit differently to us and always my cards and theirs look very different - great for
ideas though even if I only use a tiny portion of maybe one card to think that could be a good idea!

Fiskers have got a bow maker out at the moment, and from what I can see that works with staples, and as far as I'm concerned the bows look too over the top
for me, I tend to be a less is more type cardmaker.

It probably comes under some sort of Health and Safety regulation as well. I suppose that's why we have to have insurance to sell cards to the public,
incase someone cuts themself on a staple or gets a splinter from a bit of wood! I just think that staples look a bit cheap.
I know which side of the Atlantic I would vote for in the world of card making!! Sue |

Her name is Stephanie not Christine and I think she is great too.
She comes up with different ideas and I like the wood effect - I have some. Love Cynthia x |

I buy some of the american craft magazines and yes, some of their ideas are quite different to ours - interesting, though.

I quite like Stephanie, she does have some great ideas, the staples aren't one of the things I would do though. Her cards are often look a bit bare to me,
but her ideas can be adapted to suit ourselves.

Yes, I like American Stephanie as well. I think the whole point of her demos is to give you an idea of what you can do with the items on offer. I don't
think the cards are properly finished, they are just a quick sample idea.

Another Stephanie fan here too. I like her stamping techniques and she brings the lovely range of Kodomo stamps to C&C. Stephanie was the first stamper
that I ever saw who didn't emboss or colour in her stamps and I found that quite refreshing! I like some of her cardmakng techniques and her ideas but I
think she tries to fit in so many demos into her half hour or hourly slot that she has barely time to finish a card. I think she is a very 'watchable'
demonstrator, but I can understand why her techniques and design ideas won't be to everyone's tastes - but her ideas are adaptable and I think she is
very good.
