This came to light when DD didn't get her bank stuff and it was returned to the bank.
It is a pain but it has made me cross because the RM didn't make this public knowledge.

I may be a bit behind the times but if one of you youngsters is moving into tempory accomadation and has their post sent to home, don't do what I've
been doing just crossing out the adddress and putting please forward to,.... and sticking it back in the box as it is either sent on and the RM them charge £1
plus postage for the letter or return it to sender.

Thanks. This is worth knowing, as my son is at uni up in Edinburgh.

Thanks oldbee, I didn't know that either. We sometimes get mail for someone in the next village with the same house name as ours. I'll make sure to
hand it back to postie rather than re-post it in future.

Well that will serve the people right who keep sending letters to Chris' new house address, saying he owes money and they are sending the bailiffs. I have
no idea what the previous owners were up to but it looks like about 20 people were living there with the number of names etc. on the mails and that doesn't
include "owner"!

Oh dear tina I hope that doesn't give him a hard time in the future as credit companies can boycot the Address.
Will try to ask son at the weekend as he did his year out at GE capital and it's surprising what counts against one. I know that troops off to uni shouldn't change their credit card details from their home addy as this counts against them in the point system. oldbee |

I do the same as Paul and the others here - if someone is silly enough to send me a pre-paid envelope then I make sure I use it - making sure of course they
get the message I'm not interested - mainly by telling them never to write to me again and delete me from the database!
I'm not quite so bad as some people who used to use the envelopes the company I worked for sent out - I used to have to open them - they were often filled with the contents of an ashtray!!! loverly! unfortunately SAGA don't send envelopes - but I'd love to tell them that I'm nowhere near 50 yet!!!! Where do they get these details from??????????? No don't answer that - I don't think I want to know. Jx |

Tina wrote: If I were him I would keep track of the letters. Either open them and phone the companies concerned or write on the envelope return to sender, property
purchased & date and sign. My mother was childminding at my house 6 months after we moved in when baliffs came to the door and told her to stand aside and
give them entry to clear the house. My Mum phoned me in a panic and I told her to put me on to the baliff who was told in no uncertain terms if he set foot
across my threshold I would phone the police and my lawyer, this was because we hadn't opened some of the original letters that were not addressed to us.
After that I opened all mail addressed to the house and phoned the senders, none of whom ever complained that I had opened their correspondence.

I did return all mail to senders with no one of that name at this address, but they still come. Chris has banned me from doing anything else as I opened one to
see where to send it back lol

Hi Tina,
If I were Chris, I would be opening the mail and contacting them by phone. If baliffs break in, in error, the damage they do must be compensated for, but who needs the hassle. I found phoning the Companies more effective than returning the letters. I don't think they actually always get them because they will not collect from the RM because of the charges levied. I save my junk mail until I have several and then mix them up and send to each other. Sometimes writing comments on the inside like...... Thought YOU might

My Husband worked for R M before he retired and what we do is mark out the enverlope as a registered letter
with the lines going across then put it in the letter box that way where ever its going to gets charged double it has worked for us we dont get half the junk mail being sent to us. Kerriegold |
