Posts: 926 (07/08/2008 09:16:29) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I may be a bit behind the times but if one of you youngsters is moving into tempory accomadation and has their post sent to home, don't do what I've been doing just crossing out the adddress and putting please forward to,.... and sticking it back in the box as it is either sent on and the RM them charge £1 plus postage for the letter or return it to sender. This came to light when DD didn't get her bank stuff and it was returned to the bank. It is a pain but it has made me cross because the RM didn't make this public knowledge. oldbee

I have no idea what the previous owners were up to but it looks like about 20 people were living there with the number of names etc. on the mails and that doesn't include "owner"!

Will try to ask son at the weekend as he did his year out at GE capital and it's surprising what counts against one. I know that troops off to uni shouldn't change their credit card details from their home addy as this counts against them in the point system. oldbee

I'm not quite so bad as some people who used to use the envelopes the company I worked for sent out - I used to have to open them - they were often filled with the contents of an ashtray!!! loverly! unfortunately SAGA don't send envelopes - but I'd love to tell them that I'm nowhere near 50 yet!!!! Where do they get these details from??????????? No don't answer that - I don't think I want to know. Jx

If I were him I would keep track of the letters. Either open them and phone the companies concerned or write on the envelope return to sender, property purchased & date and sign. My mother was childminding at my house 6 months after we moved in when baliffs came to the door and told her to stand aside and give them entry to clear the house. My Mum phoned me in a panic and I told her to put me on to the baliff who was told in no uncertain terms if he set foot across my threshold I would phone the police and my lawyer, this was because we hadn't opened some of the original letters that were not addressed to us. After that I opened all mail addressed to the house and phoned the senders, none of whom ever complained that I had opened their correspondence. Caroline

Chris has banned me from doing anything else as I opened one to see where to send it back lol

If baliffs break in, in error, the damage they do must be compensated for, but who needs the hassle. I found phoning the Companies more effective than returning the letters. I don't think they actually always get them because they will not collect from the RM because of the charges levied. Caroline
