I think embossing can be done with any ink that says pigment ink. If it's not I use whatever colours I have and then use a versamark pen over the top.

If your coloured ink pads are pigment ink Tess, they should work with embossing powder.

I often use pigment ink pads and clear embossing powder. It's an easy way of getting what you want without having to buy lots of different coloured
embossing powders. I also find it's useful a method for inks that don't dry normally on special papers like vellum as it 'sets' it, I also did
it with a verse I'd printed out on vellum, but you need to be quick.

With the exception of silver and gold embossing powders I've found that it works better to use a coloured pigment pad with a clear embossing powder ...
even if I used an anti static bag I found I used to get little specks of melted powder where I didn't want them.
Black embossing powder is the worst for it ... the exception being the fab black and gold powder from Joanna which is a revolation. I use the little Versa Color cubes with my clear powder and Versamark clear pad with my silver and gold powder. Versamark do a pen too which is useful if you miss any bits of the image when you're stamping. Have fun x |

ooo that's answered a question I am never sure about what ink pads to use. It was ok yonks ago when I had my Inca coloured pads - they were ok with clear
embossing powder, and of course then we used the blue or pink "clear" liquid to moisten our pads for embossing with silver and gold. Things have
improved siince those days!
I normally use versamark, and I have now sussed out the ones (apart from Stazon) that will not bleed if you water colour after stamping. So shall now look out for the versa colour cubes. I often think it would be a good idea if they actually printed on the different pads what they are good for. Mags |
