Good evening all. Well what a day we've had - as Kate says a very wet East Lothian. It rained nonstop all night and didn't stop until midafternoon.
I've never seen so much water in my life. The main drive into the park was like a river and we had a lake in front of the office. The Dry burn burst
it's banks, the sewage pumps all flooded and we had to turn some electric off for part of the day as it was too dangerous to leave it on. To top it all for
some reason we've had a hiccup with the electronic banking of the wages and no one has been paid so I've spent my day off making up cash pay packets
for about 100 employees!!! Spent the day walking around the office in my bare feet as I'd had to paddle to get there
Hope everyone else is dry and safe. It's amazing how fast the water rises then falls again, luckily there's no irrepairable damage but we'll have a mammoth cleaning up operation over the next few days. As OH and eldest son were both out all day I'm spending the evening washing and drying goodness knows how many sets of work clothes ready for tomorrow again. |

Oh dear, I really feel for you Carol. What a horrid day you've had. The wages hiccup must have been the last straw. I hope tomorrow is a better day for
you. Trouty x (Jean)

Managed to go to the cinema this afternoon and it rained very heavily lunch time on the way there. It was dry when we came out and hasn't rained since.
I thought at one point we were in the monsoon season and no one had warned us. Nice to see Jean back and I don't envy her the washing and ironing. Jan |

Actually my day wasn't as bad as it sounds - the staff who were working have been brilliant and everyone has just mucked in and done what was needed so the
office was a fairly pleasant place to be. Added to that the majority of the customers have been very understanding about everything so we've been able to
laugh off the odd noughty one. I feel so sorry for anyone whose property has flooded as it must be horrendous not being able to stop it and water just causes
so much damage in a very short time.

Hi Mary, the X-Files is next on the list. I remember when I got a new washing machine years ago sitting and watching it go round Mary. Not a lot of difference
to the cinema really. Has anyone else watched that first load when you have a new machine or am I the only nutty one?

No, Carol, that was the first thing I looked for, but there was no hunk taking his clothes off and putting them in the machine!! Maybe when I go on
Monday........!?
Don't think I sat and watched the first load, Chrissie. Don't remember, but it would probably be more interesting than the telly at the moment!! Mary x |
