No apologies for starting another of these threads- I have found so many books I have adored by listening to what you guys are reading - but I have to
recommend the one I have at the moment - it's called The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly - and it reminds me so far of the Barbara Taylor Bradford - woman of
substance books - she is a very very poor lass in Jack the Ripper's London and then sails to New York to make her fortune ....

Well Joanna as an avid reader , I visit the local library regularly. When I need to just escape from the stresses of daily life, I tend to go for the books
they pick for display to find new authors.
Just finished "Death in the Truffle Wood" by Pierre Magnan, (rather partial to who dunnits!) a french auther who is new to me. Had me laughing with the dark humour and one I would recommend for light reading at bed time. Went through all the "Ladies detective" series last year...all easy reads when babysitting. I must admit I am a compulsive reader & have been known to sit reading the lables on loo cleaning bottles when I don't have anythinf to read in the bathroom! EuniceX |

I'm currently reading Kevin Smiths (silent Bob) "My boring A*s life" - as the title suggests, it's a bit boring!
I do like auto biographies and fiction. We've been talking a lot today about Dan Brown's (I think it was..) "Angels and Demons" in which the partical accelerator features, saying as it's being fired up tomorrow in real life! and maybe it's the child in me but I like Harry Potter - there I said it! |

I have a notepad beside the computer and I am jotting down everyone's suggestions - always nice to hear what others think rather than boring reviews from
not real reviewers!

Over the years I have read so many different authors, loved the Barbara B Taylor ones. Read a few of Dan Brown, not into sci fi much but do like Jeffrey Deaver
books especially the Lincoln Rhyme series. Love the Lesley Pearse ones too. Someone gave me a Mary Higgins Clark book, very different but really enjoyed it.

The Warrior's Princess by Barbara Erskine - a follow up to a recent book I read - Daughters of Fire. These books are so atmospheric and 'un-put downable'..... quite scary sometimes but intriguing. I've read all of her previous books and find her a wonderful story teller. Can recommend. Jan

Currently TRYING to get into 'The Last Gospel' by David Gibbins, on the back of the book it's described as Dan Brown meets Indiana Jones, sounds
action packed with a few twists. Well, it's taken a good week to plough through the prologue and the first chapter is proving just as much of a slog. Will
persevere to chapter 5 and if there is no improvement it will find it's way into the next charity bag that falls through the letter box!
Cross fingers the plot gets moving. Clair x Hey ho! waiting for the next Artemis Fowl book to arrive from Amazon always good fun (recommend Artemis to anyone who liked Harry Potter. |

Not currently reading anything but the Diana Gabaldon series Crossstich, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn & The Fiery Cross are good. The first
3 are the best, historical time travel book with some relationship stuff as well. Be warned some of the relationship scenes are very "descriptive",
my Mum read the books though and she enjoyed them.

As an avid reader, I'm always at the library! Just read Chocolate Girls by Annie Murray. A lovely book about three women who's lives are entwined by their work at Cadbury's and the war. Will look out for Artemis, Clair, as I love the Harry Potter books, but of course there aren't any more!

Recently finished Revelation by CJ Sansome. Mystery type stories based in the time of Henry VIII. Brilliant book. I'm about to start reading the follow
on to a book I read last year called The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters. Don't know what it's like (or what it's called lol), but the first book
was a hoot. Sort of Charles Dickens on some kind of mind altering drug!

I'm reading Sidetracked by Henning Mankell ( my favourite author) just now, a gripping crime novel set in Sweden. I understand there are to be 3 of his novels on the TV shortly, and I can't wait. luv irene xxxx |
