Mum is a little disorientated and says she's not going again - Oh, YES she is!!!!!! Dad keeps saying 'mum's confused' - she's always confused!!! Apparantly, she has been a little 'naughtier' this time, waking up other service users at 5am telling them they have to go to work!!!!! This is what she does with dad and us on a regular basis!! The good thing is by the time she goes to bed this evening, it will all be forgotten (hopefully). (((hugs))) San x

My mum is also a carer and has booked a weeks respite in November. She is going away with a girlfriend for 3 days and then I am coming over to spend the remainder of the week with her in Copenhagen, where we will shop and visit friends. She can live a long time just on looking forward to those breaks and looking back at them too she says. I think it is really important to have the breaks for her. My dad went into respite for the first time ever a year ago - for 4 days. He also said never again when he returned, but now that it is coming up again a year later he has forgotten all about it and is quite happy to go again. Hope you will find the same with your mum. Well done to you and all others who look after older/ill relatives - you certainly deserve the rest when you can get it. Hugs Winnie
