Really interesting question and kind of a deeper "why forums?" question too.
The personal answer first is that I do try to comment on at least some of the cards posted each day, when it is my work I love to know what people think, obviously it's even nicer when they think positive thingssmiley: grin but feedback is always good. For me, I only post cards on here that use Joanna's products or occasionaly they may use a technique or idea that was on here, such as the punch flowers.  Again, that's a personal preference, I make and blog a card most days and it would be a bit overwhelming to post one on here each day, I feel.
It's a cardmaking forum, but this is the General Discussion area and lots of people raise controversial and sometimes deeply personal topics on it because they have got to "know" and trust the people in the forum, because we have a common thread uniting us of crafting.  This is something I find difficult sometimes and I think "chat" can come out all wrong when it's permanently written down and recorded forever.

I'd also like to mention Jaydetee's "showy" comment and I'm so glad you've seen the error of that onesmiley: laugh!  I'm more of a quilter than a papercrafter, though I have really slowed down my sewing at the moment, I teach quilting and run a beginners class every year which I really enjoy. Each time I try very hard to counter what I call English reserve about blowing your own trumpet.  This is of course a generalisation, but when I have been lucky enough to go to a quilting show in the US a typical American quilter that you meet and talk to will tell you how good her work is and what a great quilt she has made.  At a UK show the English quilter will point out the silly mistake she made and the thread that did not toally disappear into the background and numeous other little imprfections.  But the quilts and quilters might be of IDENTICAL merit and abilitysmiley: eek.

Every time you make a card, a cake, a quilt, anything, you are creating something that didn't exist before.  Please enjoy that, show it off and accept comments gracefully.  Blow your own trumpet, and keep on creating things!
Umm, that "you" wasn't aimed at anyone, it just sounds all wrong if I put "one"smiley: embarassed.

OK off my soapbox and off to work nowsmiley: smile
