We don't have the gas boiler on timer....we put the heating on and off as we need it.
Last winter, I think, was an exeption, the heating was on most days all day and night....
Hopefully this winter will be a lot milder...
I also have a big snuggly blanket downstairs, so if I get cold that goes round me. And if hubby
says he is chilly, I tell him to "put a cardi on" ! He hasn't got one, but he knows I won;t put the heating
on, he wears t-shirts in the house, so thats his fault....
As we had three children and then their three partners, and THEN their six children between
them all, I have lots of very big casserole dishes and saucepans etc. So when I make curries
lasagnas, shepherds pies, fruit crumbles etc. I still make the same amount . then freeze loads.
Hubby has made up a dinner from Sundays dinner for years, to eat on Monday, not keen on dinners myself
so I will have cheese on toast, or something similar on Monday. That saves a bit.
WE don't like cheap tinned food, so do buy branded. Having said that, I will always look around for the best prices.
and buy loads . For eg. we love Branston baked beans, but their real price is something like £2. 40 for 4 cans..
So when they come on offer for £1.20 ish we buy maybe 6 or 8 packs. Then they are stored under our bed...!!!!
Yesterday I asked one of our Granddaughters to go under Grannies and Grandads bed for a pack of beans!!!
Isn't this sad ???? Just read it over and it looks like something written in the war years. Is this country
getting back to those days??? Jen. x
