Gotta be honest here - for all I care they can have the Christmas lights on all year round - they don't mean that much now although I do like to see them lit up and like everyone else, I do think that perhaps 6 weeks before Christmas is more appropriate for the season.

But having on them now won't affect my feelings or what I do on Remembrance Sunday - I really don't think it's disrespectful...........

After all, Christmas IS a celebration of the birth of someone who died for us.......... isn't that what the soldiers did too?

Very well put!  I actually love Christmas lights as they cheer up the dark days for me.  I don't think it is disrespectful - those who wish to remember will still do so, I know the local British Legion has a big service planned for the 11th and I am sure all those who wish to pay their respects will do so. I will certainly be thinking of my Grandad, who was badly injured in the first World War.  As it happens, the lights aren't on here yet, it will probably be the last Friday in November.
