I've ordered the usual capon from the butcher - much better flavour than turkey and nearly as big; I'm cooking for nine on Christmas Day.

I haven't really thought about what else yet.  With a big main course the starter won't be much - maybe grapefruit or melon, or perhaps a few olives.  The bird will be accompanied by all the usual trimmings; pigs in blankets, stuffing (got M&S sage onion & pork in the freezer) cranberry sauce, bread sauce, roast potatoes and half a dozen or more veggies including chestnuts with the Brussels.

For desert I've got a small M&S Christmas pudding but a lot of the family don't like Christmas pudding so I'll probably do Christmas rice pudding.  See today's page (11) of my advent calendar
