I am almost sure my answer would be no, but I suppose it would depend on the circumstances.

When my niece was married a few years ago we turned up at the restaurant to find that, if we wanted to eat, we had to buy our own meal. I wouldn't have minded so much if she had, at least, let us know beforehand.

When we were married we paid for everything, including the bridesmaids outfits. We also put money behind the bar so no-one had to buy a drink.

When my daughter was married we, again, paid for everything but this time we only put money behind the bar for the first drinks. There was plenty of punch, etc. if no-one wanted to pay for more drinks. When my son got married last year we gave them some money towards it but they paid for most of it themselves and they were on a very tight budget. It was a lovely day for both the kids weddings, regardless of the cost. But I would never have asked our guests to put money towards the cost.
