£500.00 so if you are couple would that be £1000.00 then I assume. I would say no.

Now having said that my best friend's son (who I feel is almost my own son) is getting married later on this year. They are very young, do not have much money and as far as I can tell will do a wedding that they can afford. I love them dearly and they would never dream of asking for any money so I have decided that I will give them a small contribution towards their wedding. It is my own choice and that makes it worthwhile and I know they will appreciate it, hopefully they will like the sampler I am going to stitch for them too.

As for our own wedding we paid for it all ourselves

When we went to bed on our wedding day, it was all paid for. When we went to bed after our party some two weeks later, it was all paid for, we had some friends who asked if we would like them to make some food for the buffet so we said yes, that would be very lovely and very lovely it was too.

When we went to bed after our blessing in Sweden it was all paid for. I had friends who prepared the food and my father decided that he wanted to pay for the food, (it would have been good if he told us this before we went shopping and I nearly turned him down but my sibling told me not to be silly) More importantly I got to wear my dress THREE times.

What astounded me at the time, when we planned our wedding, was the attitude of the young girls I worked with, they were completely blinkered by it all. Had they got their way, I (yes I do say I) would have spent copious amount of money to have MY fabolous day. I always had to calm them down and say it is OUR day and we are doing it together. It was no point explaining that it was the first day of a hopefully long and happy marriage. I think they only saw the wedding day and then life stopped Happy for them.

We didn't want to do a wedding list either but in the end had to do one as many of our friends and family said but we want to give  you gifts that you want and need.
