Technically is it legal tender in UK if it has 'Sterling' written on it. I have been out of retail for a good few years now. I have had very little bother using my Scottish money in England, one when they lost a huge cash sale over it, Had they not been rude and supercilious about it I would have paid by card. Another when they had no clue to whether they could or not, when I suggested they ask their manager, they decided to take it. Sorry I cannot be of more help. It does in the end, come down to training of staff in the recognition and whether the business you wish to buy from will accept it.
