I only keep open jars of sauces, salad dressings and mayo in the fridge, along with all my salad stuff, new potatoes, fresh meat and fish and dairy. I keep jars of jam and marmalade, pickles, peanut butter, beetroot, HP sauce, tomato ketchup etc in my cupboards or cold larder, and have never had a problem with storage, them going off or otherwise. But if I buy or make lemon curd, because that contains butter, I store it in the fridge. I only keep drinks in the fridge if we intend drinking them that day, otherwise they are in the cold cupboard. I have a huge big fridge freezer but if I filled it with open jars of pickle etc, I would not have enough room to fit in the meat, salad, milk and cheese etc. I use up veg like cabbage, cauli and brocolli quickly and only buy if I am going to eat them that day or the next - these are normally stored in my vegetable rack along with old potatoes, carrots and onion.

I keep a few other non food items in the fridge - my eye creams, a moisturiser and the dog's pro-biotics or other medecines. Sometimes you might find a ball of wool in there too and some chocolate!
