I keep jam and preserves such as mint jelly, redcurrant jelly etc in the fridge once they have been opened, along with ketchup, puree, lemon juice and whatever other sauces we may have.  European directives led to the removal of preservatives several years ago.  I failed to realise this and wondered why so many jars of jam etc were going mouldy, until my sister in law enlightened me.  I don't refrigerate anything with natural preservatives such as pickles, honey etc.   I used to have a tall fridge until we moved to this house and it had a built in fridge and freezer, the fridge is now just a normal sized one and nowhere near big enough - it drives me crazy trying to fit everything in.   I also keep a lot of fruit, mostly apples, oranges and berries in there as it is so much more refreshing when it is cold.

I also keep coffee in the fridge as it is better for it, not that it lasts very long here.  You can keep coffee beans in the freezer and just grind them as you need them but I was constantly grinding beans when I tried that.
