We took my 86 year old Dad to A&E 6 weeks ago. Our GP had been treating him for an ear infection for 5 weeks and  no improvement. He shook from top title whenever the pain struck. He was admitted and spent 4 weeks in hospital. He had to have an Hickman line in and antibiotics etc. They found a polyp and a nasty bacteria. He came home last Wednesday with 8 weeks of oral antibiotics. He had the same thing in his other ear 3 years ago and I would have thought our GP would have had him in. Instead she referred him and the appt was for August 13th.  So sometimes what seems a minor complaint isn't always so. I did read of someone going to A&E with a spell in their fingersmiley: eek idiots. Gill
