I have the DC59 Animal and love it. I rarely use my upright now.

The main drawback is that the dust container isn't large so needs to be emptied frequently, not that it is much of a hassle as you just need to slide the release, holding it over a bin, and the dust falls out.

The charge lasts for about 20 minutes but since you don't hold the power trigger switch on when not actually vacuuming it is longer than it sounds. If you use the boost button then the charge lasts a lot less. You do have to hold the trigger to operate it, you don't switch it on then switch it off, the trigger is very sensitive.

Whether to have one as a sole vacuum, a lot depends on your cleaning practises, I am a bit of a !%%# so it suits me fine, if you are wanting to vacuum the whole floor every day then I perhaps wouldn't although I guess that it would be similar to using a cylinder or something, I have always had an upright so it is a bit alien to me to push a stick over a whole room.

Mine is certainly powerful and I haven't been disappointed, my grandson loved it too. It is a lot of money, having said that.

Edited to say that I didn't say a really bad word!  smiley: roll  I referred to myself by using a four letter word beginning with SL and ending in UT.  smiley: roll
