I start with the reason for the card, then I look at what I have and what I think that person likes. I put all my bits onto a tray - card, backing papers, a stamp or embellishment, gems and ribbon. Then I fold the card, chop bits up, stick bits on and the card is made. Sometimes I will make sketches for cards in advance but I rarely use them. I am at my best first thing in the morning, the ideas seem to flow so much better but that's not a good crafting time for me as I have to go to work. If I'm struggling to make a card for someone I will get up really early (say about 5.00am) and play about till I have something that suits me.
Occasionally I will plan a card from start to finish (in my head) and that is such a neat, quick way of crafting but I enjoy it better when I am making a mess and playing about with my stash.
