The wind is blowing up quite a storm here in Gloucestershire now after the awful rain. We have lived here for 30 plus years and have never seen so much destruction. Luckily we are on a hill but the farm track we have to use is now next to impassable after most of the stone has been washed out. The track was like a torrent this morning and over the years we and a neighbouring farmer have spent many hours and many pounds improving the track and now we've got to start all over again:-(
The hillside just can't take any more water, the ground is waterlogged and we have a river running through the main garden where we grow flowers for cutting - so no more business this year! So after the rain has destroyed many flowers the wind is now going to finish them off. Heartbreaking.
Feel so very sorry for the poor people who have been flooded though. A (normally)20 minute trip this morning took us nearly 11/2 hours to do because many of the roads were flooded. The lane leading up to our hamlet and farm track had recently been repaired by the council and is now in a worse state than before with much of the tarmac washed away. Enough rain now so please, please no more
