Today was very very enjoyable - have to say certain parts Joanna would have hated

We arrived bit early so we went to have a coffee in the restaurant a joining the flying school and watched some aircraft land and take off.

Then we went through - signed a form and had a quick chat with a lady instructor called Jill - she was very nice and patient with me

Then out to look at the aircraft and do the safety checks of the aircraft - then it was strap your self in and we were off

The instructor took off and climbed to 2000 feet and levelled off - then she said right controls are yours!!!!!!

We flew to the right of Exeter - past Exeter airport where we were told to go further east to avoid it and headed across Exeter city towards Newton Abbot. (While passing Exeter the Memorial Flight was in the distance over Dawlish)

All the time we were being told about the developments at Dawlish - it was their airshow today so lots of planes to avoid.

Flew past Newton Abbot and headed towards Sheenie Towers where the instructor took control of the plane so I could spot our house Finally found it - weird locating things from the air.

Then off we went again - again me in control - over Shaldon and to Teignmouth - we had to go wide of Dawlish because of the air show (we had to avoid a acrobat plane doing its stuff)

Did a turn toward the coast and flew over Exmouth and down the coast before turning left back to Dunkerswell Airfield. One of the best bits was flying back to the airfield as the weather had turned nasty and the instructor said head for the hole - she meant go between the two bad weather patches - but to me there was no hole But could just see a bit lighter colour and headed for it and the ride got a bit bumpy (exactly at which point I said to the Instructor - my wifie would hate this) - I personally loved it

Instructor allowed me to do the turns to line the aircraft up with the runway and only at the last bit did she take the controls and land it (meanwhile I was thinking to myself erm we getting lower erm think you need to take the controls )

Was a very enjoyable day and am thinking I may continue with it

Then to top the afternoon off driving back from the airfield towards Exeter when the red arrows came whizzing around with coloured smoke coming out of their backs and flew quite low down the motorway
