I think we have to remember that IW/C&C are trying to run a business and make a reasonable profit. By the accounts in the local paper yesterday they are struggling and are laying off 70 workers. Joanna also said in one of her posts that there is a new boss at the top.

If the recent formats have had enough sales then they will probably continue with them. If they don't sell enough then they may well stop selling so much in the way of crafting supplies, who knows? Perhaps a few friendly emails with constructive comments may make them experiment with the show contents in the New Year, but the bottom line at the moment has to be profit ... otherwise they won't be around to make any shows.

A lot of the demonstrators we love to see on the crafting shows have their own websites and/or shops where we can (and do) order direct. I think this is why IW is doing more of its own kits.

One answer (for those of us with broadband internet access), if it is one, seems to be the one Glenda is taking, and that is to use YouTube to record demos. Another is to buy isntructional DVDs e.g. Joannas Pretty Papercraft.

I am not connected with IW or C&C. I try to spread my craft purchases between local shops, Joanna, and other mail ordcer to try to make the most of my budget AND to try to support these businesses.

I will freely admit that I rarely buy from IW/C&C - I haven't had any problems with them BUT reading reports from others who have does not instill me with confidence. Also, the recent kits have been TOOOOO big. Take the umpteen kits in one for £53 odd last weekend ... I can't afford to keep splurging that amount of money at once but if I could have bought one or two of the kits at the same rate I probably would have done.
