Our Doctors are very good. if you want to see your own doctor - you would have to book in advance, unless they had a space. I believe they leave a few appointments per doc for emergencies each day, but in addition they run an emergency clinic as well - and you get to see the nurse practioner who will pass you on to a doctor, if necessary. You do have to ring up early - although I think Dawnywol has rung once when Ikklewol was sent home from school and got an after 4pm appointment. I think they judge each case on merit.

At night and weekends, we have a special number to ring for the on-call docs (they may even work during the day if you can't get to surgery and it is life threatening - i,e, heart attack or something, but I am not sure.) At weekends, if you are able to get there - they run a clinic at the local minor injuries unit - which normally only opens 9 -5 Mon - Fri. and if you are unable to get there a doc will come out to you - they have a designated driver along with him/her. The out of hours group are absolutely fantastic - and I owe my life to one of them in July!

We currently go regularly to see the nurses and book OH's appointments a few weeks in advance as he needs a double appointment - but I know the girls on reception are always helpful and try and slot people in. I must admit we do have about 12 Doctors on the team so that must make a difference.
