Don't worry about the pens, they're pretty robust and the worst you'll do is waste some time & card.
Stayzon can be used sometimes on some images if you're using straightish brush strokes but the ones that need lots of blending and/or using circular motions you might get lots of black smudges. Any dye based ink is fine, memento is best followed by Nick Bantock, but some need more drying time than others.
Best papers is the uk are either the ones specifically for markers, Bristol Board if you like a thick card or 160+gsm laser printer paper. Some people are happy using bogstandard smooth card but once you've used a better paper you'll never go back. Fingers crossed and with a huge lot of luck maybe Joanna will find a way of being able to stock GinaK or papertrey inc card. Both are reputed to be the best for alchi markers but not found this side of the pond.
