Certainy sounds as if BT might be best. I have been looking at alternative numbers for using with my BT line (which I have kept) that you dial and divert the call through them. They are cheaper for calls altogether , but , impotantly for me, calles to Australia are only 0.5p a minute. So I might investigate going to BT and then using one of these alternative numbers for calls.
Has anyone used them and can recommend any please? One I looked at was 01815 (or similar) I think and sounded good. Janet
Hi Janet  we used to use www.18185.com for all our phone calls but now use BT's Anytime package BUT we still use 18185 for international calls.  When I call my friend in the USA it costs 0.5p per minute plus a single connection charge of around 6p for the call so I can chat for an hour for about 36p  I had a look and the cost for a call to a fixed line in Australia is 1p per minute.  We find that they don't bill us every month presumably because it would cost more to send the invoice than they would get from us - they let it run until it reaches around £5 or £7 which is hardly going to break the bank.
