I prefer to use a black pad - Brilliance, or colourbox or similar pigment pad (Pigment pads = powder; Dye pads =don't!!) and a holographic or glitter powder. Be aware though, that you won't get such a crisp image with a glitter powder. A fine hologram is my choice - it isn't sparkly but it is sort of irridescent! You can use any clear glitter powder on a black pad.
Joanna used to sell a nice black glitter powder, but I can't find it now. It had a fine glitter, but I wouldn't personally use a versamark because it isn't easy to find a good black glitter powder and you don't get the same density of colour with a glitter powder over a clear ink (IMO!). You get the best density using a black pad with black ink, but for a beginner stamper, using a clear glitter over black ink, you get less mess if you don't manage to get all the bits off that aren't on the image - and glitter powder has the tendency to get itself everywhere!!
