Also have an Epsom for 'everyday' use and an HP Photo printer for photos or if a want a 'better quality' print.

The epsom uses compatibles with (upto now?) no problems but it doesn't like photo paper!! but for how often I want it for that it doesn't matter as I use my HP instead.

I've recently been looking at the Kodak one which says the inks are cheaper than any others but it's 'pricey' to buy initially, also when we were in PC World last there were 2 people bringing them back for different reasons! Hmmm?

I have a Kodak and would NOT recommend them, yes the cartridges are cheaper and they do seem to last quite well, but the print quality is only good on Kodak branded photo paper and you can't trick it by choosing the Kodak Photo Paper setting because Kodak photo paper has a code printed on the back and it knows that any other papers are not Kodak.  Having said that it seems to print on any weight of paper, I have put 350gsm though it with no problelms and it is fantastic for colour photocopying (I'll say no more) on any paper types.  Have bought an HP to print backing papers etc., and that is really good.
