Having recently posted on an earlier Punchbag thread that my OH had been in what can only be described as sheer agony all over the Christmas period with a tooth abscess I am so pleased to report that having driven him into Sheffield at 06.30 a.m. yesterday morning to camp outside his dentist's surgery, that the antibiotics that he was prescribed have started to kick in and that for the first time since the day before Christmas Eve he is without pain. Result! Apparently he was given two lots of medication because the infection was so bad - one was for a usual course of antibiotics i.e. 3 tablets three times a day, but the second was for two sachets of the same drug but in powder form. It was stressed to me that one of these sachets had to be taken immediately on arriving home and that the second should be taken 8 hours later. The Pharmacist also told me that apparently these sachets contained extremely high doses of the antibiotics, that it was the best and fastest way to get the drug into the system and was in fact the equivalent of a second weeks full course. This means that by the time he goes back to his dentist on Monday, all being well, he will be able to receive the appropriate treatment. So relieved he is much better.
