On Tuesday morning my daughter Helen set out for a few days in London with her boyfriend, Simon. Simon had some work there so Helen was just going along for
the ride, so to speak. I told her to call when they had arrived. She did eventually ring at tea-time and I asked her if they had arrived at the hotel.
"Yes, sort of," replied Helen, "only we're not in London, we're in Florence!"
Simon had arranged it all himself and told no-one (I thought). The next evening Helen phoned home to say that Simon had proposed and presented her with a diamond and platinum engagement ring! Yippeeeeeee!!!
It turns out that my husband Graham knew all about it as Simon had met him after work on Monday night to ask his permission, and didn't tell me in case I gave the game away!
Isn't that just so lovely?
We are all SO happy as Simon is a lovely young man and they really are made for each other.
Now, did someone mention wedding invitations......
