Another of my great passions is singing. I had a voice coach for seven years and was part of a group who sang in concerts to raise funds for various local
charities. It was fantastic - we even recorded a tape of our favourites.
We were performing at a concert in a church down in Bo'ness - which is next to my home town of Linlithgow. Some of you will have heard of Alaistair McDonald , the Scottish Folk singer. Well he was there - as the main attraction and our lot were backing him as well as doing our own bit. There were three parts to the concert. The first one went down well - the audience loved us. 10 minute break so I took the opportunity to nip to the ladies - and the door jammed! The 2nd part of the concert - I could hear it, so was singing along. "nd interval and they found me - and I was released. There was great hilarity about it.
3rd part of the concert - my big moment - I had a solo. As I walked over to my spot a wee voice was heard singing 'Oh dear what can the matter be, Sheila got locked in the lavatory' I turned round and there was Alaistair grinning away lol
The finale of the concert - so emotional - the proper original version of Auld Lang Syne (listen to Jean Redpaths version)
