My favourite Easter was the one we spent in Germany. We stayed at a small hotel in Mainz and were the only guests. The owner was so nice and every morning
after breakfast he would take Chris (who was about 7) behind the bar to choose some chocolate.
On Easter Sunday, we came down to not only the usual cold meats and cheeses for breakfast, but to beautifully painted hard boiled eggs and little chocolate bunnies for us. Chris was given a huge chocolate bunny so he was happy.
After breakfast we drove to a place called Bad Munchen on the advice of the hotel owner. The place was stunning, it was a lovely sunny spring day and the trees were hung with colourful Easter eggs. There were huge beds of very colourful spring flowers and as we got out of the car the scent from them was amazing.
We went for a walk and then hired a little rowing boat to go down the river for a bit, seeing vineyards etc. Coming back we moored on the oposite bank where there was a lovely little cafe and has some gorgeous coffee and cake.
This was the most glorious Easter I ever remember, so peaceful, sunny and relaxing
