Think some of us are gonna have to move to Scotland !!!LOL!!!
It's coming to a point where people just can't afford to be ill !! I have to take two medications for the rest of my life - am seriously hoping that I don't have to have any more - just can't afford the charges and still be able to craft !!LOL!!! Hugs Christine |

We pay nothing here, but they waited for me to reach 60 to do it, it just didn't seem fair to cheat me out of my enjoyment of a perk of 'old age'!!

Wendy, It is well worth getting a prepayment certificate if you have more than one prescription item per month. You can get them for either 3 months (£26.85)
or 12 months (£98.70). You can simply get a form at the chemist, or go online at www.ppa.org.uk/ppc
It has saved us a fortune over the past few years Kate x |

I have a pre payment cercificate and it saves me £'s well sort of
because what i save i spend on craft stuff i have to have 8 different
sorts of meds every three months.
Add up what yours come to Helen and work it out, which would be the cheapest for you. Only two more years to wait and then it will be free. deerrrrr! jEN |

I filled in a HC5 form, it's for help with health costs. I'm on incapacity benefit and now I get my prescriptions and dental treatment for free.

Id try claiming income support Wendy then the prescriptions would be free. If you have been on Icapacity Benefit for a while i would get a benefit review done
you may be entitled to more money.

I'm on heart tablets for life, but it wasn't until my husband became ill, that I had even heard of a pre-paid certificate. I
used to pay for his prescriptions as well, and he was terminally ill. The visiting nurse told me I shouldn't be paying, and our local Chemist sorted me
out (forms etc) with a refund.
It was also him that told me about the certificate. There's a million and one different leaflets telling you what you can claim, I'm afraid I haven't read any of them! Now as an OAP, I get mine for free, but I think a lot of pensioners as you say, couldn't afford to be ill had they to pay for them, and NOT only pensioners!! My next door neighbours Mum, is 70, and has just had to pay over £1000 for new teeth! No NHS dentists where she is, it's bloody disgusting!! |

Hi Helen,
I knew a few weeks back that they were putting prescriptions up to £7.10 an item. How disgusting is that? I don't think that people who are ill should have to pay so much to get the drugs etc, they need. This country is so unfair on everything. For people who don't have much money like me and hubby, it's blooming expensive as I am on long term antibiotics, but the doctor has kindly given me a 2 month supply prescription each time I need some more tablets, so he's helped make it a bit cheaper for us in the long run. £7.10 is a lot of money if you don't always have it spare. Suppose it beats having to pay for treatment though, like in America. Andrea xx |

works out very expensive for me over the years,,also this last 3 weeks i have been really sick with two infections so far had 3 antibiotics, the first one i
had a bad reaction to so had to through them away....i will be 60 in may and am looking forward to no charges.....Ann xxx
