Whenever I try to colour using chalks, I am pleased with the result BUT to my horror when I have finished it and am busy matting and layering, I find that even with careful handling I have managed to SMUDGE the chalk. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening - would a coat of glaze help perhaps? Thanks for your ideas Michele xx

It may do the trick for you too Lavender XX

I always find that if I have a tiny smudge anywhere Ican remove it with a very soft artists rubber. I'm continually blowing on mine all the while I'm doing it, but I love the finished effect xx

Posts: 97 (02/04/2008 19:52:34) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	If you have a versamark pen, (the one with a dual tip for embossing) use this over the areas you want to chalk first and then add the chalk, this will set it. I learnt this tip from Wendy Rhodes on C&C.

As San says, I finish by giving everything a light wipe over with a ball of cotton wool. This helps to remove the excess and to blend the colours. What I do have a problem with is getting chalks off my fingers onto my work. I have learnt to cover bits with clean scrap paper when I am working and you could do this when you are matting and assembling your card. Versamark works well, but it gives a harder edge and loses some of the effect of chalking. Alison
