It has been an extremely difficult day. I have had to listen to my dad running me down to one of my brothers and one of my sisters, and him telling them he will not go into respite. They think he is selfish and stubborn but of course they can put the phone down as it doesn't affect their lives.
My hubby has offered to take him to visit the home but he has even refused to do that.
As for keeping him here and putting mum into respite does not help because this is what he really wants as he never wants to go anywhere else anyway. Also I would not leave him alone here if we should go away, because although he thinks he's capable of taking care of himself, he is prone to giddy turns and falls and has been known to burn carpets etc with his ciggies! Also sometimes, when we have a break from them, we just like to have the house to ourselves.
I hadn't thought about speaking to the GP - I think I may give that a go.
The problem is, my dad has left it with one of my sisters to organise his future - but she is the one who has let me down constantly the past 3 years and has made numerous promises to dad and then let him down. She has more or less told my dad to be patient and keep me sweet - CHEEK - she's not living this life.
