sorry the article
won't copy for some reason. It's about diet coke and pepsis and a lot of diet drinks or low sugar that contain the above mentioned ingredient. If
they get to a certain temperature, this ingredient turns to formaldyhyde which leads to slow poisoning. I can't remember all the diseases listed, but top
of the list was MS and then Lupus. Apparently they are running trials where people who always drink low sugar drinks, that have some of these diseases, and
the results aftyer cutting them out have been amazing.

Go and "google" Aspartame. It seems that this "report" has been doing the rounds for a number of YEARS! It is yet another urban legend
promoted by the internet. I would prefer to believe the American FDA (Food & Drugs Agency) than a lot of misguided hysteria. Just because a report is on
the internet doesn't automatically make it true.

I work in the NHS and there is definately evidence to suggest that aspartame is carcenogenic, so mush so that I dont let my sone have any diet drink or
product with it in, I would prefer him to have ths sugar!

the compamy that makes this product , well the patent has expired, but it says that there are 5000 products on the market. Urban legend
or not, as you put it, if the tests prove that it can do ANY sort of harm it's best to avoid it in my opinon.
You can get several results of info, from the internet on ANYTHING, very often contradicting one another, it says it's especially harmfull to Diabetics, and children with ADD and ADHD, I still think it's definitely worth a read, whether you believe it or not. Jacqui x ps, as for the FDA, in britain we still ban stuff that is allowed over there, so who knows who is correct? |

I never let my children have anything with aspartame. They both have ADHD and whilst they are not too bad most of the time, if they
had anything with apsartame in they were a nightmare, because of this I looked into it many years ago and discovered that it was originally developed as a
poison!

I'm interested, Jacqui, will pm you. I remember over 20 years ago there was a scare regarding a sweetener, i think it was this one, and miscarriages. I
have never liked sweeteners in pops but have had sweetener in coffee. I think as with everything, give a miss if you can or small amounts only. I dont think
you can trust manufacturers and we owe it to ourselves to be imformed.. Thanks Jacqui. Ali x

i have read about this before,it also is said to cause problems with diabetics being able to control their blood sugar ,which is something my mum has problem
with, she also drinks a lot of drinks that contain aspartame, also i looked into it as a lot of the symptoms of aspartame poisoning as they call it are similar
to the ones i suffer with vertigo,i no longer drink anything that contains it,i also cut out caffeine as well but unfortunately hasn't made any
difference,but its worth checking

Thanks for the information Jacqui, I went on the internet and saw more than one report saying how bad it was for you. While shopping today I purposely looked at labels on fruit squashes (I have three young grandchildren ) most of the ones I looked at had aspartame in (Usually if they have no added sugar!) but one particular blackcurrant drink had in tiny letters NOT TO BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN UNDER THREE YEARS OLD. I have actually E-mailed the store for their comments on this! It is a joke these days trying to shop for your family. I am afraid the children are on water or fruit juice from now on.

Hi Jacqui,
Have been a bit wary about Aspartame for a while, saw a programme on tv about it. It was one of the ingredients that has a bad right up in the us. Yes its in a lot of low sugar items but It is found in other things, have found it in some soluble pain pills, vitamin pills, also in some Cider drinks even though they are not low sugar. Have seen it in some normal cakes, sweets that were also not low sugar products. It is something that you should check for when you buy anything, because you never know where it will turn up. I always check for it! Hugs, Tee x |

I remember a TV programme on Channel 4(?) years ago about Aspartame (Canderel) being carcinogenic. They investigated the alleged trials of this product, how I
remember it. The mice used in some of the company's trials, given numbers to identify them, had apparently died several times!!!? There were a lot of
alleged false results in the trials and it was believed then to be dangerous. I couldn't understand why the thing was never banned here, as it was at the
time in the US. Ever since it is safe one day, then again thought dangerous the next day! I avoid it where possible.
