I think (speaking from experience some years ago now) that one of the hardest things to take with redundancy is the feeling of being completely powerless - no one consults you or warns you (sometimes) you cant argue about how good you are - and often you cant even say goodbye to important freinds before you leave the building - it makes you feel as though you've done something really wrong - when often it's higher management that are the ones that have messed up .... or another department that has caused the need for cost cutting

it's a scary experience at any level but at a highly paid level as many in the city are - doubly scary - as now the whole financial/city area will be awash with job seekers

oh the joy of being self employed - I may not have been paid every month that i ran my own business but I sure as heck was never going to make myself redundant without a good chat about it first rofl
