Last night on the Apprentice after show, there was a lady who has started her own Card Company, for people of other colours, she has produced cards with both
colours of people on(Sorry if I am not describing this correctly to some),for instance they showed a lovely card with two little girls on the front, one white
one black, aged about 6 years old ,holding hands or something all dressed up very princess like, and I thought to myself,,there are NO stickers or card
accessories ,that I have seen that depict other Races or colours ? Are there?,what a good idea. These days we all have someone in the family or friends that
would like this, what do you think.?

Yes, I saw this Pat and it wasn't until then that I realised she was right, and how clever of her for recognising that niche in the market. |

I had to make a "RASTA" card last year, and then got some "ethnic" orders because of it. I also made a
"Chinesy" one for someone at our chippy!!
I'll tell you something else you can't buy, individual anniversaries, except for the biggies. I think it's every year up to 15 before they start separating. I made a few with choccies on, and cotton, oh and tin! (I put a ring pull on it for a giggle!!) I have never heard of you being able to buy these in a shop and they're REALLY appreciated. very often the actual recipients have no idea that their anniversary is coupled with something xx |

I think its quite a new concept on ready made cards but on a couple of my cd's I've depicted different skin tones.
I like to be one step ahead

I have been asked to make some cards for people of Asian ethnicity for my sister who works in the NHS - wedding cards, baby cards, their ceremonies etc and it
was quite difficult. So, you are right, there is a gap in the market. Glad you are one step ahead Sharon!

Like Jacqui I've made cards for 'different' anniversaries, cotton, bronze, etc. It's good to think of what you can use on a card to depict that
special anniversary and it's always appreciated.

well ladies,
can speak from eperience here ,..as my husbands side of the family and friends are all Jamaican and our daughter and kids in the family are either mixed race or Caribbean descent . I find it almost impossible to find ethnic, either black or mixed race images on toppers or papers etc to use for cards ....even though we live in an area of Scotland where there is a low black carribean or african population ,...we still send cards to our family and friends no matter where in the world they are, and I usually have to make a comprimise, ie if its for one of my nephews then I end up with cars,.. fooball,...etc,..so I would welcome more choice, and it is exactly that a choice,..those that feel they would use them would buy ,...etc,.. regards lorixxx |
