Where are your cards going? |

If you dont sell them, what are you doing with them ? I see you all making them like mad,as I do,but are you stashing them, ?apart from giving family and
friends their Birthdays etc ? I would make more but I dont know how long I will have them sitting there.

I sell just a very few (to family, and the odd friend who asks for a special card to be made), apart from that I have a large family and tend to send cards on
every possible occasion. I also make them for the Produce stall run by our W.I. at various events. One reason I scrapbook is to stop me making too many cards

i have boxes of them made up ready for names etc, i try out new techniques n pop them in my ready box, i usually get asked for quite a few at once n when i
take them into work to ppl that order them it usually leads to more, n if anyone wants a card pronto i win hands down as i can get one to them overnight.
my SD text me yesterday for a 'bratz' card as she knows i did about 12 for her to choose from when her daughter/our grand-daughter was 6 last year, so she will pick it up on sat knowing it's already done so she need not worry. sometimes i have a clear out n dis-assemble some i did quite a while ago, n keep the useful bits. i see it as my hobby so it's not as important to me to sell them quickly. chell x |

Yes I must say I am now making some and putting them in a box,as you say,all of a sudden someone will ask you for one,and it saves rushing, but dont you find
they always ask for the one you just dont have,so far I have been asked for Fishing, very boring that was to make,New Home,I never made one before,Baby cards
for the same New mum,one of each sex, just in case, with a personal name on both,A Theatre Card, for someone who was an actor,so you can never me really ready can
you, but thatts the fun I think,as long as its not too many fishing cards, didnt like that.

i always like to have some cards on the go and it does take me ages to make one. i have about 30 birthday cards to make each year and i have made them all for
next year. NO KIDDING. i am a very organised person. i always like to keep a few cards just in case i have to send a thank you or a get well card very quickly.
i do not sell mine, but if anyone wants a special card i will make it and ask them to put something in a collection box at christmas. i am not good at making just one card at a time. i have to make 3 or 4 together. they are not the same because i usually score them all different. this is why i am well advanced in my card making. been making christmas cards last 6 weeks and i have made 20. they were not simple cards. having a break from christmas cards and started to make that double pop out card we saw on michelle's show on create and craft. that will take me a week to do. love june b |

Wow June you are very organised, you put me to shame lol.
I don't sell my cards but any spare cards go to be sold in aid of the mental health charity where I work. I must admit, I have some that I love too much to part with though, how sad am I? Claire xx |

claire, you are not sad. one of our nurses is getting married in june and i made 3 wedding cards, or start to make 3. one of them turned out as an enagament
card, it looked more like an engagement card than a wedding card. the second one i will give to her but the third one, well it is lovely, i think it is
stunning and i am keeping it for myself. no one will be given that card. also that card is not going in a drawer, i have it on my dresser. its a bookatrix
card.

Don't laugh!..............................please! I have a sausage box or 10, into which I put all the ones that get knocked out like sausages on a
converyer belt. They get kept for when someone knocks at the door for a card as they are ready to go. I also put in the sausage box anything I am trying to
develope as an idea needing fine tuning. I mainly do commissioned work now for extra special cards and wedding stationary.

I have about 100 assorted cards in a box under my bed. I make up packs for gifts for elderly relatives and friends who don't get out, so they appreciate a
selection of cards to use. Apart from that, I've just been asked for 2 dozen for the local WI market and neighbours sometimes pop in for one, Otherwise
they sit in their cello packets in a box under my bed, waiting.......... Janet!

As I have been making cards for about 9 years I have hundreds of made cards in a box, all in cellophane bags ready for sale. I do make a lot of special orders,
but other wise they are gathering dust. I used to sell them in the village post office until it closed. I am a bit wary of selling into shops - small business
and tax etc - but I have a friend who sells them for me. She lives the other side of the country, and at the moment I only send her A6 sized cards and she
sells them at the weekly dance (pensioners) and to friends, who keep asking for more, so I have obliged this week with another parcel containing larger and
shaped cards (handbag/shoes etc) I dread to think what each card has cost me, must be in the hundreds, when you take into account the amount of stuff in my
craft room. I expect I am not alone there !!!

I had a stack of cards building up, I kept them in boxes. I tried to sell a few times on a craft stall but I picked bad venues.. so it's put me off a bit..
... So, I packed up 95 cards and Kaylie packed the extra 5 to round it up to 100 cards... and we sent them to Afganistan for the soldiers to send home.. Hubby has a gaming pal who has a brother serving out there.. so we had someone to send them too.. He has since posted half of the cards via the red cross to Iraq where the rest of his regiment is stationed.. It feels good to have done this.. and we will now be making more to send over at Christmas..(smile) Hug Sylvie A |

I have only recently started to build up a stock of cards, but they will probably largely be for me to send. I don't sell them as a general rule as I find
that people don't often appreciate the work that has gone into them and don't like to pay enough to cover the costs.

I tend to make cards as I go along, although I do have a few stashed in a couple of boxes and I have still got the very first card I made. I don't like
making cards for people who you know will not appreciate them. I get special requests for cards from friends and people at work, I really enjoy doing these as
quite often they are challenging requests, I am in the midst of making my third set of wedding stationary, these are a slogg but worth it when you know your
efforts have been appreciated.
But will I ever make money at this??.... like most out there... probably not. I started out like a lot of others thinking it would be cheaper to make my own, Dauh!!!!! I soon got my eyes opened there, my craft come dining room will verify that, but the circle of friends I have made in the last couple of years far outweighs the cost. Carol x |
