What a lovely day it's been hasn't it? I went with a friend down to the sea front this morning and we sat outside a little bistro and had a latte'
and watched the boats in and out of the harbour. It was lovely; but it's not often we do that. When you live by the sea you tend to take it for granted
instead of enjoying it! Got a bit too hot for me though, and the MS started playing up, but it was worth it! Hope you have all had a good day.

I love Scarborough, I worked at the Esplanade Hotel when i was sweet 16...My cuz lived at Cloughton so enjoyed my visits two fold...
Thing is as I got older the less I was able to get around.. Scarborough is built on hills and you do have to be fit to live there... hugs Ida xx |

Know what you mean, Ida. The only good thing about all the hills is we don't get flooded! I worked up on the Esplanade when I was 16, at the Adelphi Hotel!! Small world!! Mary

My daughter, as some of you will know, lives in Driffield but her OH comes from Scarborough and works in the PF there.
We try and get across to see them and our grandson at least once a month, and weather permitting, often go onto Scarborough for a walk along the sea front, parking up at Scalby Mills (?) then walking down past the little white pub on the sea front, along past the park and the new building complex onto the sea wall, round past the castle onto the harbour area then onto the South shore and back. Usually stopping for a 'Subway' sandwhich and the later at the 'bikers' cafe for a hot chocolate. This usually takes us around 3 hours or so. I love the sea ....it seems to talk to you, we have a country park near us but the water/lake just looks 'dead' and uninteresting and rarely visit. As a child we spent many a summer in Bridlington and Flamborough on holidays Christine xxx |

Yes, Chrisb, it is Scalby Mills. I live just up the road from there! It is lovely at this end of Scarborough as it is mostly away from the hustle and bustle of
the tourists. I have nothing against tourists mind you, Scarborough would be dead without them, but it is nice not to live in the thick of it now. We were
'in the trade' for many years - my family ran a couple of small hotels and I have worked in a few of the big ones (The Royal and The St. Nicholas)
mostly when I was 'sweet 16' and a little older! So, Ida and Mary, I wonder if we were all hotel staff at the same time?

Sounds perfect
. I love the sea - we can see it from our house, though
we live a few miles inland, because we are high up. I love going to Conway (about 30 mins drive) and sitting by the harbour watching the boats. I also love
rivers, but am frightened by reservoirs and dams - not sure why - I think it is because they are man made and not meant to be there, if you know what I mean
